I am an aspiring actor and performer who has been training in voice for over 10 years with a foundation in an operatic repertoire and technique, and have flexed out to vocal styles including pop, rock, jazz, folk, and musical theatre. I have 5 years of piano training as well as music theory, ear training, sight singing, rythmic and melodic dictation, and solfege. I have performed with Kristin Chenoweth, Ricky Ian Gordon, and participated in numerous masterclasses with vocalists from Broadway and Opera. Read More

I base my teaching style on the individual student and how they learn. Some students learn more by rote, others learn more by oral and others learn more by understanding theory. I always incorporate proper technique so that the student developes as quickly as possible. For those students who like working from a more traditional sense I work primarily with the John Thompsen and Bastien Piano Methods. Other students, especially students that start at an older age I work immediately by having them play familiar songs and melodies and as their technique improves providing them with more difficult music to play. I like to keep things simple. I focus on breathing and diction exercises and I like to discuss with my students about their performance. My style is very friendly and open and I will push my students to succeed. Singing comes down to muscle memory and each session with me is a mix of working out the mind and vocal muscles. Good fundamentals fix a lot of problems :) At one point, all my students (who have the self-awareness to do so) will stop themselves and correct any vocal mistakes made during practice without my input. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing my students develop a love for music!. Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I always aim my students' optimum learning, encouraging challenges themselves. Acknowledging accomplishments and performance opportunities help to fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. By trying to find out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs. Read More

I strongly value theory and technical groundwork, but I also believe in guiding students toward the genres and compositions where they will find their own passion for music. With a solid foundation and an inner drive to keep playing, even beginner musicians can reach goals that may have previously seemed insurmountable. For beginners, we will start with the fundamentals and focus on pieces that they can master and enjoy as we work towards more complex repertoire and playing styles. Read More

I believe in always cheering on my students and creating a warm and loving environment to help them grow! No matter what their age is, encouragement is key. Acknowledging their progress is what is going to move them forward and continue to learn and practice more. Constructive criticism is of course necessary, but it's important to focus on what the student is doing correct, and then build upon that and what they can do better. Read More

As I said before, every student is complitely different, and is important to understand what they need from the very first time, so you can be an inspiration for them and not a waste of time. The voice technique is so important, basic, for a profesional singer, but is not the only thing you need to become a good musician/singer. Is so important to find your personality as an artist, your soul, and that is the hardest thing for a voice teacher, but when you have a student who developes that thanks to you, is the best feeling in the world.
