For my beginning students, depending on their age, I typically start with a music book, such as John Thompson, Faber or Bastien. I also use a Schaum Note Speller which is a lot of fun and helps progress with music reading. I also love to supplement these books with single sheet music favorites of the student. My passion for singing dates back to when I was a child, singing in choirs and performing in churches. In 2011, I graduated from the Greatbach School of Music at Houghton College, earning a bachelor's degree in Vocal Performance with honors. I have been blessed to perform in several regional theatre productions, as well as two off-Broadway shows. I have brought my love of coaching and teaching to these productions. I was the vocal captain at La Comedia Dinner Theatre in Ohio, and the music director for an off-Broadway production. Read More

My goal is to help students develop the skill to make playing music fun and satisfying, whether their goal is to become a professional or to simply enjoy playing for its own sake.
