However, when my sister booked the national tour of The Sound of Music, my clientele expanded to include mostly Broadway kids. My junior year culminated with a semester in New York City working in an administrative/artistic internship at the Metropolitan Opera. During school, and immediately upon graduating, I was fortunate enough to see my interest in music and theatre education realized in my work opportunities. For beginning students, I always start by learning the notes on the staff that corresponds with their specific instrument. Knowledge and confidence of this is crucial to the learning process. Next, I pick a method book to work through to learn the fundamentals. For trombone, I use Rubank's "Elementary Method." I have been teaching since getting my masters in 1999 - from Brooklyn and NYC to New Haven, CT, where I now teach vocal technique to all ages at the Educational Center for The Arts (Performing Arts High School) and at the Neighborhood Music School.
