I am a graudate of Heidelberg University, emphaisis in percussion and also stuided piano, keyboard and voice throughout grade school, high school and college. I am, and also been active with the Girard Community Swing, Dixie, and Concert Bands (2001 to Present); Girard High School Marching, Concert and Pep Bands (1981-1986); Heidelberg University Concert, Marching and Pep Bands (1986-1991); Warren Junior Military Band (1982-1985). My goal as a teacher is to show students the joys of singing and playing music, while instructing them how to be technically proficient and vocally healthy. Through the process, I encourage singers to appreciate what their strengths are and to recognize their weaknesses as challenges. I like to focus on one technical issue at a time, building upon the current strengths without overwhelming the singers. I have taught lessons on-and-off throughout my college career. This began about five years ago when a few of my friends communicated interest in learning various instruments. What started as casual pointers then developed into structured half-hour lessons each week. As a music therapist, I also have experience teaching adaptive lessons for those with developmental and intellectual disabilities.
