I'm a passionate music educator with considerable experience as a teacher and performer. I graduated from the University of Arkansas in 2005 where I studied music education with an emphasis on trombone. Since graduation, I have been fortunate to have many opportunities to conduct, perform, and teach music. I play a many different instruments and perform many different genres and styles. Whether it be conducting student ensembles, performing in small clubs, or singing with a chorus at Carnegie Hall, many of my best life experiences have been because of music and I want to guide my students toward their own great musical experiences. I try to make the learning fun and interesting for my students. My goal is to have them look forward to their next lesson and make learning their instrument something they value. I believe every student progresses at their own pace. I make sure the lesson is at a level they can handle, but challenging enough to give them a sense of accomplishment when they achieve success. I am a bonified voice geek meaning that ever since I started teaching in 1984, I have been obsessed with understanding the human voice. Ive studied the anatomy, physiology, acoustics, and psychology of how it all works but more importantly, Ive studied how to apply all of that science to helping people speak and sing better without making clients wade through technical termsunless they want to. In 1993 I formed a non-profit 501(C)(3) amateur choral and musical theater organization called Seattle Glee Clubs and developed and conducted the Seattle Womens Glee Club, the West Seattle Glee Club, The Olio Players Theatrical Troupe and the Offbeats Vocal Jazz Ensemble. I want to make sure that the student enjoys the piece that they are working on, and that it challenges their skill levels while still being able to be performed by them.
