I begin with students by asking their goals. Once I have a clear understanding of what results the student is looking for, I can then find ways to help them in achieving these goals. For instance, I always work with the student on warm-ups at the beginning of each lesson. This is because it is crucial to ensure we are singing in a healthy way and to give students a tangible tool to take home that allows them to practice and grow in their technique. Read More

Voice lessons are meant to help you maintain vocal health and achieve control over your voice in a way you would like to hear your self. They are for you to be happy and content with your voice. That is why we sing! Exercises are there to help you get the vocal technique into your muscle memory, and as soon as we figure out what helps you do that, we apply it into the song you chose, or that I have suggested. I am motivated and enthusiast music instructor who loves working with passionated students and sharing love of music. I started piano when I was two years old and had musical connection ever since. I studied piano, voice, composition, music computer technology, and conducting. I was more concentrating performing piano or vocal performance, and found myself that I am passionated in creativities of original work, so I am concentrating composition and premier of my original works to express my music. I'm a fun, motivated and passionate instructor. I graduated from McGill University's Schulich School of Music in 2009 with a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Performance, with voice as my main instrument. Since then I have been teaching and performing around New York at historic venues such as Birdland, The Plaza, Iridium, Bitter End, amongst others. I have also recorded an album with Grammy nominated producer and arranger Rob Mounsey and perform with the world-famous Postmodern Jukebox. I have taught a variety of genres, ages, and levels of students. Through my performance, recording, and teaching experiences, I’ve acquired substantial knowledge to bestow on my students. It’s a true gift to be able to share my love of music and to help my students reach their potential. Read More

All students learn at their own pace. I will spend a lot of time getting to know the student as a learner and as a human so that I can be of better service to them. I love having my students keep a journal of their lessons so that they may catalogue their progress as they have more and more lesson. I believe in setting realistic goals and unattainable goals simultaneously. Read More

I usually take the first lesson to gauge what the student wants from learning their specific instrument. If they want to learn a specific song, if they want to get better at a certain genre, or if they just want something to do as a hobby! I believe it is counterproductive to force a certain system or lesson series that the student is not interested in. I have tons of practice books, scales, and warmups that I like to use to help the student become more proficient and confident in their craft. Read More
