Practice is ideal for each student. I encourage my students in their practicing. Progress will be made most quickly by those students who maintain the recommended practicing time (1 hour per day). Parents are also encouraged to be involved in their students practice. Taking the time to listen to your child play their weekly songs, or creating a set time for practicing in the students daily routine are good ways to become involved. Read More

I am a constructivist teacher. I like my students to drive their lessons. However, there is a structure to the lesson. There is always a warm-up, theory and/or sight-reading, and choice time, where the student works on something they have chosen, and then time to work on something I have chosen.\ Lessons always end on a positive note! Soon I was asked to teach the other dancers to sing as well, and those were my first singing students. I’ve been teaching singing ever since. Even though Musical Theater is my first love, many of my students study a wide variety of music styles and bring personal storytelling skills to all music. They perform at open mics, school showcases, local musicals, churches, and clubs. Several have started touring bands or become professional singers/songwriters with their original songs receiving radio airplay. Read More

My love of music and performance started at a very young age. Piano lessons at 8 and singing in choirs around 9 years old and I've never stopped. I received my Masters Degree and Performance Certificate in Classical Voice from Northwestern University and my undergraduate degrees in Vocal Performance and Music Composition from Texas Tech University. I specialize in classical music, R&B, pop, and speech work centered around gender and identity. Read More

There are many methods in voice, but my favorite teaching method is Vaccai. Its a simple and thorough method that explores intervalic reading and understanding theory, as well as classical breath training. I also teach vocal improvisation with jazz standards and allow my students to research about other styles and genres that they are curious about. The most important thing is they keep a good vocal health practice that allows them to be versatile and creative. Singing is such a personal and meditative instrument that the more time you spend understanding your voice the more you will be able to achieve. Read More

Shortly after graduating college, I was hired to be a musical theatre teacher at a local dance studio where I taught dance, voice and acting. After teaching with them, I had students reach out to me to further their vocal training. I have had regular voice students for the last two years, and even after moving to New York this past fall, several of my students from California are still with me by doing lessons over Skype! Instruments: Piano Guitar Voice
For beginning students who are children, I start with the book "Learn to play piano" for piano students and for guitar "Learn to play guitar." It is a basic book with specific essential elements for reading and understanding music. As the student progresses I use to introduce songs for their repertoire applying what they leaned in the book. For Voice lessons is more practice, which includes exercises for breathing, diction, tune, Corporal expressions among others. Read More
