My teaching experience started in college at DePauw University in a pedagogy seminar. Part of our final project included giving a sample lesson to a colleague, and I fell in love with helping someone achieve their goal through singing. I have taught in several different settings over the years, but my private studio has been the most satisfying environment. For voice I create my own custon lesson plans and use a variety of materials. Students will work on a great variety of repetorie from pop to renaissance. Students are encourgaed to learn to read music, with a great emphasis placed upon practical music theory. I aim to develop intellegent musical artists, foscuing upon intrepretation, critical thinking, historical considerations and creativity. For piano I general use the Faber and Faber method books unless I feel that a particular method would better benefit a specific student. Read More

For students before 18, I suggest them to sing more fun and lighter repertoire without trying too hard and building bad habits. For some students who need advice for auditions and competitions, I love to discuss with them openly about plans, repertoire choices, and characterization, and I offer more physical and mental practice to make them well-prepared. My teaching experience began in 2011. A friend of mine had bought a guitar and did not know a single thing about the instrument. he asked me if I could teach him how to play. After a few weeks of methods that I taught him and, exercises he was able to play the guitar without frustration. I always tell my students when they are starting out to give themselves at least 15 minutes a day to keep up on exercises to build up muscle memory. Read More

And my love of singing and teaching led me to pursuing a music education degree that I am about to go into my senior year of at Miami University. During my time at Miami so far I have had hours of field experience getting to teach elementary, middle, and high school music classes. This involved creating and teaching my own lesson plans. This past year I took a vocal pedagogy course and part of this course was taking on college aged voice students to teach and prepare them for a recital and both of my students were successful. I value my students' enjoyment of our lessons, and I try to incorporate concepts that they will look forward to learning. I am passionate about all aspects of music, including music composition, theory, and history, and I include these important subjects in my instruction. I believe that anyone has the potential to be a talented musician, regardless of age, abilities, or former experience. I have helped 5 year old students with ADHD learn to focus during instruction, and I have helped students in their 40s learn a skill they never had a chance to learn as children. Read More
