I move at a very quick pace, but I have my students set their own goals. While I will select the literature for the student, I want them to feel successful when they are working with me. I want students to be confident and successful, so I will do anything in my power to help them learn good technique and practice habits. My teaching experience began in 2011. A friend of mine had bought a guitar and did not know a single thing about the instrument. he asked me if I could teach him how to play. After a few weeks of methods that I taught him and, exercises he was able to play the guitar without frustration. I always tell my students when they are starting out to give themselves at least 15 minutes a day to keep up on exercises to build up muscle memory. Read More

I like to create very clear imagery that builds over time. The voice is not something we can see or touch, so I often joke that singing is about learning Jedi mind tricks that help us achieve a healthy technique. I like to incorporate theory/musicianship and some piano into my lessons to create a well rounded understanding of singing as a musician. And my love of singing and teaching led me to pursuing a music education degree that I am about to go into my senior year of at Miami University. During my time at Miami so far I have had hours of field experience getting to teach elementary, middle, and high school music classes. This involved creating and teaching my own lesson plans. This past year I took a vocal pedagogy course and part of this course was taking on college aged voice students to teach and prepare them for a recital and both of my students were successful.
