My primary goal is to make sure students are having fun and enjoying themselves during lessons. I have a laid-back disposition. I received a Masters of Music in Voice from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) and a Bachelors of Music from DePauw University. Classically trained and now singing as the female lead of a regional wedding band 2-5 nights a week. For my string students, I typically use Hal Leonard's Essential Elements at first, and then I introduce the Suzuki Method for solo repertoire once they have progressed on their instruments. For my vocal students, I find what type of music my student is interested in, and I then recommend a voice book that we will pick repertoire from. Thus, in order to improve my teaching skills, I took voice pedagogy in graduate school, understanding how influential a voice teacher could be. And being cautious about my students vocal health then gradually becomes my belief of teaching. I also encourage my students to pick their favorite repertoire in order to stay motivated and have fun, because I think enjoy singing is the most essential fundamental during the learning process.
