Before teaching I was always sharing ideas and my approach with my peers and anyone who wanted to listen. My jump into teaching music as a job started after high school teaching drum lessons at Music & Arts and All About Music & Arts in the Houston area. After teaching at Marching Percussion camps for Memorial High School and Waltrip High School among others I decided to go back to college at Blinn in Brenham. Read More

There are many books on drums and piano or voice. I have to get to know the student to determine what I will use to get better results. It will depend on their age and attitude and initial talent. Also, a lot of kids are busy at school and don't have much time for practice. It means I need to get a lot done during the actual lesson and make sure that the info I m giving is settling in and there are no gray areas and questions of what to do until next lesson. Read More
Instruments: Piano Voice
I started learning and playing piano from an early age, and have been teaching music for over thirty years. More than anything I strive to introduce my students to the beauty of music, and approach them with the same amount of passion and enthusiasm. I try to make the learning experience as fun as possible, while ensuring progress. I am very positive and my biggest priority is to make my students happy and make sure they enjoy every lesson. Instruments: Voice
The passion and the feeling that you put to a performance in front of ten or ten thousand people, properly managed, can be the vehicle that carries your musical message to each one of those people. Therefore, for me, at the time of teaching, Try to connect the student with 100% of what he is doing. The technique you can always learn and there are many and very good, they are all valid, but the human quality and value you give your music, respect and love you have, will be the determining factor in what you do with this Wonderful gift that life has given you. Learning an instrument is not simply about technique and skills. Music is an enormous part of our lives and culture, and an individual's decision and desire to step forward from the passive stance of a listener to the active crafting of music can impact and shape their identity and their life. As a teacher, I try to foster the same love for music in my students that I carry in my own soul. Read More
Instruments: Guitar Voice Bass Guitar
Method or style technique used will always depend on the preference and requirements of the student. It will also depend on the style of music. For example, classical guitar requires perfection of technique for good execution. This requires practice of scales, arpeggios and such. However, if the student is older and just wants to be able to strum a few chords then that requires a different approach where we focus on simple technique and work on things like rhythm or posture etc. Read More

For teens and adult beginners (age 11 and up), I use the books specially complied for older beginners then progress to level three or above. I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun for the appropriate level(s). I like Mayron Cole piano method because it provide solid progression for rhythm counting, systematic build up for sight reading as well as introducing key concepts in music theory/history/genre.
