For the past 20 years, I've studied and performed with keyboards, guitars and woodwind instruments while exploring a very wide variety of music ranging from classical and rock to jazz and avant-garde. I graduated with a BA in music from Saint Joseph's College. I studied both choral and instrumental education. I did not work towards becoming a teacher because I want to work in more non-traditional education settings (sacred music, worship teams, private lessons). I'm working on my masters in organizational leadership because I'm hoping to work with church musicians on weekends and have a management style job during the week. My teaching style is basically giving personalized voice lessons to each student according to their goals and musical interests. I will customize each lesson according to this common ground. I usually will spend 50% of the lesson in vocal technique and the other 50% applying the vocal technique to the repertoire the student is working on. Sometimes this will vary according to the specific needs of the student. Their might be for example a deadline to prepare for an audition, or to perform in a recording, so we might warm up the voice in that case and go directly to working on the repertoire. Read More
