A voice lesson to me to should be easygoing and open, while having a task to accomplish. I encourage my students to enter my studio with an open mind and feel free to explore artistically. We set goals together and progress vocally with each song. I have an extensive library of music as well which my students are free to use to find new material. It's very rewarding to guide a student along their journey to discovering their voice! Read More

I began teaching at the Erie Playhouse Summer Youtheatre Camp on my summers home from college. The students were ages 5-16 and we taught them basic music theory, as well as numerous musical theater and jazz standards throughout the week. We focused on proper vocal technique and placement as well as theory. In New York City, I taught babies and toddlers for a company called MoonSoup. The children were ages 3 months - 6 years and we learned simple songs and melodies. Read More

TECHNIQUE Throughout the course of lessons, it is my job to identify the most effective resonating space for the student and give her the skills to maintain that space. It is through the combination of effective breath management using appoggio and flow-phonation that the student becomes most efficient. Finding the most efficient technique for the student involves discovering the proper laryngeal position for the student’s voice type and by practicing continuity through all of the registers. As with most of my own studies, I try to adhere to the classical style of training. I will also adjust as to the student's individual needs. Of course with everyone, we will increase vocal range and experiment with what areas of style need more work than others, for example some may need to work harder at belting than head voice, and so on. The most important things in my opinion are warmup techniques, breath support, examining correct space, finding the lift in the soft palate, and letting go of any tension, especially in the jaw area, as it is not a part of the process! Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
