The most important part of teaching, for me, is to see my students developing a love for music. Each student is different and will show their skills/talents in different ways and at different paces. I am patient to let students grow in their own way while also challenging them to be the best they can be. I love to laugh with my students and develop a rapport with them that makes them feel comfortable in the lesson environment. Read More

For piano I prefer Faber Piano Adventures and have different books I would recommend starting with depending on the students age and experience. For guitar and ukulele I prefer using the Hal Leonard method books. I often supplement these method books with outside sources and pieces as is appropriate for the student. For singing students, I have a wide variety of books and resources depending on the musical style. I come from a classical voice background, so when students are middle school age and older (sometimes earlier) we begin learning Italian Art songs in addition to musical theater pieces and English folk songs. My joy for teaching came simply from teaching friends and family how to play, and quickly seeing them grow and discover themselves as a musician. My musical style began with rock n roll, and has adopted a little bit of everything over the years, from jazz to folk and electronic, and everything in between. I learned music by ear, and when I got to a point where I felt I had my own style, I learned music theory to fill in the gaps and become more well rounded. Read More
