I personally really enjoy the Hal Leonard series of method books for guitar and bass. I find them comprehensive, but not bloated, and very easy to understand without being dumbed down at all. I plan to use the Guitar Method and Bass Method books, both Complete Edition (comprised of Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced method books), in combination with the Hal Leonard Music Theory book, which is aimed at stringed instruments. The best thing about teaching are the "a ha" moments! I love seeing a smile - that tells me a student LOVES what they were just able to do. And then we high-five, of course! I love when students tell me they surprised themselves , saying something along the lines of , "I didn't know I could make that sound!". I have loved singing since I could first talk! I grew up singing in choirs, shows, and church. When I attended the Governor's School for the Arts in Norfolk, VA for high school, I realized that music and singing would be my career path for life. I've been playing music for 13 years now. I started on drums but quickly became excited about the guitar and songwriting, and am now an award winning multi-instrumentalist and singer.
