I began teaching five years ago with a diverse studio that covered everything from musical theatre to hip hop. I currently teach at a music studio here in Jacksonville, where I have a large studio of private students as well as group music classes for elementary and preschool aged children. I emphasize exploration and curiosity and encourage my students to explore multiple genres of music. I have been teaching since 2017. I started off with private lessons in St. Augustine, FL, then proceeded to join the Community School of Music at Stetson University as a Student Teacher in 2017. After graduating from Stetson in 2019, I stayed and taught as a Faculty Teacher at the Community School of Music, having more students. During my tenure, I taught students from four to 85 years old. From the young age of five years old, I begin training in opera. I never understood why my teacher was so passionate about teaching me operatic techniques, but now as an adult, I can appreciate the versatility that learning opera gave me. I went on to be a part of the Rhode Island Children's Chorus, learning from Dr. Christine Noel. Eventually, in my high school years, I became an apprentice with the chorus and began teaching. The wonderful aspect of my former teachers were that they allowed more advanced students to teach students that were not as advanced therefore giving the more advanced student a chance to learn and develop skills of teaching. i teach each student individually that is to say that i tailor the lessons to meet the level and desires of the student . i include teaching theory as i go along with each student. i tell each student that there is no such thing as a mistaked, there is only learning. i usually teach two songs in the first hour lesson . one in four four time and one in three four time . i also teach how to transpose any song that the student wishes to learn into the key that the student is able to sing the song in. again . nothing is hard . it is only new. For beginner piano students, I have two methods books that I use. For young children, I use the Bastion Piano Basics series. It is colorful, fun, and exciting for young learners. It is also very informative, so parents can help their young ones practice if they need the help! For beginning adult students, I use the Faber Adult Piano Adventures series, as this is more tailored to older students.
