I am very old school, meaning I expect them to memorize lyrics and lines, and understand what they are saying and why. I approach teaching as a teacher who still performs,and learned by doing it. My teaching experience dates back to my college days, as I began teaching private lessons part time. I have been consistently teaching students since 2018. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument. I've also found that a combination of classical and modern music can go a long way in helping students enjoy the piano and motivate them to practice and continue to learn. Read More

Nothing is more rewarding to see a student enjoy and become a confident musician! I allow each student to move at their own pace, but always challenging them so they do not become bored. I've had quite extensive experiences in teaching. Teaching and tutoring began during my high school days. I would help out after classes or teach piano on the side. Coming up will be my 6th year in teaching piano. I've also tutored my peers all throughout college in music theory, musicianship, and ear/aural training. I've interned at an elementary school for a semester teaching general music. I was even able to get the opportunity to go to Japan for three months and teach English and translate for the United States Navy. Read More

I began teaching voice over 5 years ago and have maintained a studio of singers varying in vocal style, age, and skill level. Each one has brought new challenges to me as a teacher and helped me home in on my teaching style and methods. If my students don't feel encouraged, practice on their own, or aren't having fun in lessons then I am not doing my job correctly!
