I am a passionate and very relatable teacher who absolutely loves sharing my love for music with my students as I endeavor to help them become skilled and engaged musicians themselves. I graduated with a Bachelor of Music in Music Education in 2010. I have had the opportunity to perform all over the world, including 6 countries in Europe, Taiwan, and Russia. I love to watch singers reach their full potential by helping them find their true singing voice and perform with confidence and freedom!  I began performing at age three and have sung and played different styles and genres for different audiences ever since.  My foundational training is in classical voice, earning my Bachelors of Music in Vocal Performance from the University of Mississippi in 1991.  I was then awarded an Apprenticeship with the Knoxville Opera and a Graduate Teaching Assistantship at the University of Tennessee, where I earned my Masters of Music in Vocal Performance in 1993. My choirs have performed at Carnegie Hall two times, Disneyworld, New Orleans, State Capital, and many other locations winning UIL and other state, local and national competitions. As a singer I have performed with the Fort Worth Opera, in San Francisco, Germany, Austria and our Nation's Capital. My students have won UIL state and local competitions, piano competitions and many college scholarships. I focus on indvidualizing the lesson to the student. Every student has different goals, dreams, and personalities. I typically use the Faber Books for piano, Hal Leonard for guitar and ukulele, and I work in sight-reading with my voice students. I also work in music theory when appropriate, and enjoy explaining the "why" behind how music works. I'm also a singer-songwriter and have tunes on Spotify Apple Music.
