I am a member of National Music Teachers Association, Colorado State Music Teachers Association and Foothills Music Teachers Association. I have taught both at the private and public school levels and teach students beginning at age 5 through adult level. For beginning students, I focus on the essentials of theory and intervals and combine with the Voice for Life method. Each lesson is tailored to the student's needs and goals, so no lesson is exactly alike in structure. For intermediate to advanced students, I focus on aural (ear) training, sight singing and rhythm and follow it with prepared pieces in order to be "audition ready". Nothing is more satisfying than seeing students passionately pursue and succeed in the musical goals they set for themselves. I encourage students to set smaller, individual goals that can help them reach the larger goals they may have. Each student is unique and all students deserve to learn in the mode or format that is most effective. My professors also noticed my aptitude for pedagogy and have guided me throughout these positions with a very student-centered mind. My teaching experience began in 2008, when I began teaching private lessons on various instruments, on voice, and on conducting. I later went on to teach band and choir at Cedar Bluff High School in 2011. After this, I volunteered as the band director at Valley Head High School in 2014. I have enjoyed every moment of teaching music and have taken so much from the experiences that I've had.
