Mymusical expertise encompasses performance, vocal technique, musical analysis, theory, and principle applications of classical music. After graduation, I began teaching and performing for organizations and schools throughout Austin. I have almost 30 years of experience as a recording and performing musician. I studied in Detroit, London and Los Angeles, and recieved my BA in music and Performing Arts in 20011. Since then I have made a living writing pop songs and movie soundtracks, performing and teaching. I consistently write 5 songs a week, and then select and develop the best material into a finished product. I've had the opportunity to take guitar and voice lessons from a number of great instructors, and have learned a multitude of great methods from them. When learning the fundamentals of guitar, I find it easiest to first learn through visually learning the hand shapes and hearing the different notes and intervals. Most of my instruction experience has been on-the-job teaching of my professional associates and bandmates as a Musical Director and bandmate. I have occasionally taught lessons during brief stints off of the road, but playing on the road has been my primary job for most of my adult life. Teaching, learning, practice and rehearsal have played a major role in my day-to-day life. From learning on the streets to playing on stages to studying music in 3 colleges and working in the record business at Caroline Distribution, MCA, Geffen and Engine/Blackout Records as well as working as a touring stage manager and personal assistant with Peter, Paul and Mary and being the member of dozens of performing/recording bands including my position as a founding member of the Metal Blade recording artist, Gypsyhawk and being listed in the Encyclopedia Metallum and having toured and performed at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts with a theater troupe and my work with soundtracks and original compositions/recordings, I have had and continue to pursue the muse in my widely varied and exciting career in music.
