For me, it's about building or finding moments. Finding out what is going to motivate you to learn that song, practice that chord, and try to instill the desire to show it off for next time. My goal is to inspire and invigorate my students with the gift of music. Scales and fingering/vocal exercises can become boring and tiresome especially for new and younger students. I find ways to make these more mundane parts of the lesson fun with games and veiled learning that keep students engaged. From then on, I began to study classical guitar in conjunction with a repertoire of Brazilian and Latin music.
