I began teaching 17 years ago while completing my Master of Arts degree in Voice Performance.I have passion for teaching students of all ages the fundamentals of singing. These include breathing, posture, and mouth position.These fundamentals stand students in good stead to sing whatever style they choose for the rest of their lives. I believe in student-driven goal setting, so my students and I set a goal for each lesson. This allows them to push themselves but staying comfortable while doing so. Students will learn at their own pace while being supported and encouraged to push themselves outside of their comfort zones. During the first lesson I have the student sing (if it is a vocal lesson) their favorite song so I can hear them. After that i use my keyboard and take the student through some excersizes to really home in on that range. I listen for qualities and we discuss the positives and what improvements are needed. For children, I keep it simple and fun, using a variety of methods to help them not only learn a song/songs, but the fundamentals of music reading, and theory. For older individuals, I prefer to work with their interests, and work towards their goals, through tailored lessons. I use a wide variety of styles, and challenge students to look outside their comfort zone-on occasion- to give them a larger repetoire that they may not have thought of. Read More

Her awards include; 2nd Place in the Graduate Division of the Conrad Art Song Competition, the Shirley Verett Young Artist Honorable Mention from the Harold Haugh Light Opera Vocal Competition, and was Second Place in the Junior Division at the NATS Regional Competition. Since 2011, during the summers, I was an employee for the New York Summer Music Festival or NYSMF for short. I started at NYSMF as a counselor and music theory teacher and I later earned a position as TA and Commercial Voice-Over Teacher. Once warm-ups and whatever key technique we are talking about that day are covered the lesson turns more into an educationally structured band practice.
