I have always loved teaching because it brings to light new ideas new understandings. In the 21 years that I've taught music I've had the honor of working with thousands of students of all ages with piano, guitar, drums, voice, theory, and composition, genres spanning from classical, to jazz, blues, folk, rock, and pop! My teaching experience began in spring 2008 at a local church where taught piano drums classes as a music instructor to students ranging from ages 5-18. Throughout college I was a piano and voice instructor at the Boys and Girls Club Music Clubhouse in Boston MA where I continued teach students ranging from ages 10-18.For the past three years I have continued to provide private instruction and tutoring for students of all ages.I find that my students have a much more pleasurable learning experience, when they are able to apply what they learn in ways that are meaningful to their desire and aspirations.I've always encouraged my students to uphold a positive work ethic and mindset when embarking on their musical journey. My experience with vocal coaching started when I was a young girl helping to teach my church's choir parts for songs we had to learn. Once I went to college I joined the Gospel Chorale at Virginia State University where I helped guide the alto section for a month long European Christmas tour. I had the pleasure of coaching and singing on tour twice while in college. I graduated and went into teaching my own lessons while also assistant teaching for choir at a middle school. Read More

I have taught band in both public and private schools, and have served as Music Director in two churches. I have approximately 30 years experience teaching privately. Read More

When I was growing up beginning piano lessons books were limited. I used the familiar John Thompson series that was quite good. I typically use the Alfred method, although I still like John Thompson, and I also like the Faber method. For adults, I like to use the Alfred books that are specifically for them. Some adults took piano lessons as children and want to take lessons again. I try to find out what he or she is interested in and go from there. Read More

I encourage the individual to find what they love about what they're doing to spark growth and personal development. I use real world scenarios and applications for my students to relate and apply their learning through the playing of their instrument. From my pedagogical teachings ive learned that the best approach is a differentiated one. One that is diverse yet unique to the learner and/ or group of learners. I use a linguistic and analytical yet methodological approach to teaching that I find to be VERY Efficient! Read More

Students are not the same therefore each method is different. The introductory lesson is used to get to know the student and what it is that they need and a program or methodolgy is designed based on that student's needs. For singers, it’s difficult to sing without acting, even if it is as yourself. One method I use is to teach acting and singing together. The art of performance is necessary. Read More
