My goal is to promote healthy singing habits that last a lifetime. I'm very passionate about sharing my love of music with all the students that I teach. Every voice is unique and specific achievable long term and short term goals need to be set accordingly. I don't believe in forcing one style of music onto my students. There interest are very important and goals are set together. There's many different styles of repertoire that can yield similar results. Read More

Tailoring my lessons to the individuals musical aptitude and level of interest has contributed to my long-term success as a music teacher. By tailoring my lessons to the individual, Im better able to facilitate an atmosphere where students come to enjoy their educational experience to help build an effective program that meets their personal ambitions. Over the years Ive learned when ambition is paired with application, the resulting outcome can be very fulfilling. Read More

My greatest joy in teaching is seeing my students surpass me and go on to become musicians that love expressing their souls through song! It is my desire to see each student progress at their own rate without stress. first I make it a point to find out why they want to learn and where do they picture themselves going with this ability. Once we have established realistic goals for the student I like to encourage them to try out for competitions and music groups, so that they are exercising their talents effectively. Read More

I start each student with the Frances Clark Series. This is terrific in introducing all musical components to the learner. It starts off right away using ALL the notes on the piano. Black notes are used exclusively in some repertoire. Each building block is built upon the next and it just nicely adds , in a non-threatening way to what the student has learned before. I intersperse these books with other more seasonal books and the student and I build on that. Read More

Recognizing that each student is unique, i.e., their instruments, learning styles, mental and emotional make-up, etc., I need to be flexible in how I work with each student. There is no one-size-fits-all! I work to understand each student's learning style and adapt my teaching accordingly. I ask a lot of questions, asking the student to think about their own learning style, what they are experiencing, hearing, and feeling. This not only gives me cues on how to better adapt my teaching style to them, but gets them thinking about what they are doing and reinforces their learning, which in turn helps them in their own practice by starting to become their own best teacher. Each student has an individual connection with music, and therefore a teacher should be willing to adapt their methods in the best interest of each student. When working with a new student, I devote the first lesson to getting to know each other; the student's interest in music, their proficiency level (if they've studied in the past), their hobbies, Depending on that meeting we might choose to focus more on music theory, or ear training, or performance repertoire; whatever the student and I set as a goal for our work together. Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
