I started regularly teaching private lessons in 2019. I worked at the Wilmette Parks District, the Park District of Highland Park, Dynamic Music, and as a freelance teacher. I also was a music director for the Wilmette Children's Theatre, the Florida Repertory Theatre, and Highland Park's summer programming. I've been playing guitar since I was eight, piano since I was twelve, and I've been singing my whole life. I also had four years of performance training at the University of Central Florida, where I was a musical theatre performance major. Read More

I think it's important to be kind but firm. It helps to create clear expectations that allow for a student to be most successful. With private lessons, it is important to tailor the sessions for each student individually. Some students require to a "push" while others might want a more relaxed lesson. Together with students we can set goals and a progress map. It is also important to always encourage students in their learning, regardless of what their pace is. Read More

I've been teaching private lessons since college. I've taught beginner piano and different levels of voice. I like to make sure my students have a strong foundation, but I also make sure they're enjoying their lessons! Music therapy is different than teaching private lessons, but I've worked with many different people throughout my time as a music therapist including; children with disabilities, geriatric patients, psychiatric patients, adults in memory care, and many others. My mission is to help each student create a healthy sound rooted in the body, which, coupled with a solid breathing technique, creates an easy, effortless and dynamic tone. From the very first lesson, I teach a fudamental warm-up that addresses the physical, breathing and vocal, and which the student can use for the rest of their singing career. Once that's in place, I spend the remaining time tailoring the lesson itself to the individual student's needs; this may be focusing on breathing one day, while focusing on resonating the next. I have been exposed to teaching since high school. However, I did not get serious about teaching until my college days. I took two vocal pedagogy classes. Through these classes I learned both about the pedagogy of healthy singing and of productive teaching. I truly believe that having a good classical foundation will take a student far. I like to work on classical music, but I also have a passion for other genres. Read More

My teaching style really depends on the student taking the lessons. It's important to set realistic goals each week for students that way they can progress at his or her own pace. Recognizing accomplishments goes a long way to fuel a student's desire to progress and makes the student coming back to learn more. By finding out what inspires the student to play, I can tailor my methods to their own wants and needs. Read More

I am a multi-faceted professional musician and can be found performing all over New York City and other parts of the country. For the last ten years I have had experience teaching young beginners, high school students, college music majors and secondary non-majors, as well as adult amateurs. Professionally, I am a classical music singer, and I also perform on modern and historical oboes, as well as recorders. The piano was my very first instrument, which I studied for ten years performing and competing before I decided to focus on singing and playing the oboe. Read More
