Instruments: Guitar Voice
I have taught guitar throughout my career, working with beginners through advanced students, teaching both finger-style and flatpick techniques as well as why the chords fit together (music theory). I like to teach lessons that move step-by-step, with each lesson building on the one before, so that the student can see the improvement as they move ahead. I recently published the guitar instruction manual "Sounding Good on One Guitar". In college my singing won scholarships and awards where I helped singers develop character for their roles in opera productions. Read More

I am an Artist who loves to see his students succeed. I have a strong passion for music, and utilize that passion and the skills I've developed throughout my career to cultivate students into fellow Artists. My primary goal as a teacher is to tap into the potential artistry of the students. For that reason, I am not as focused on the technical skills, as I am about spotlighting the inspiration that will facilitate the student to embody the Artist with original expression and purpose in their art form. I work with my students at the level and pace that they are comfortably happy. We all come to music and music lessons for different reasons. My work is to honor that space and demonstrate that making music is an option for anyone who wants it, regardless of any perceived “barriers” in place. I am currently learning and researching models of Universal Design for Learning. I apply as many techniques as possible to engage with students and make the music both cognitively appropriate and musically enjoyable. Read More

The skill level of my students range from Beginner to Intermediate. For Piano Students: My beginner students start with the Bastien Piano Basic Method Books. I assess what book level is necessary during our first lesson. Other beginner material I use are: Alfred's Basic Piano Library Lesson Books, Older Beginner Piano Course (For Adult Beginner Students), and Piano Adventures series. Book levels vary per student and some additional material may fall to the responsibility of the students family to purchase. Read More

It's very important to me that my students and I can connect on a deeper level because artists need a "safe space" to make incredible discoveries that would help them grow and flourish in their craft! I highly encourage and assist all my students in creating their own body of work(lyric writing and song-writing). It's given that every student who takes up vocal lessons is interested in becoming a professional singer. Read More

I am honest with a student about their body, I think the best way to sing is to know how all the pieces of your instrument work together to create healthy sound. I encourage my students to eat well and take care of themselves physically and emotionally. I also want my students to have fun by singing music that enspires them to be sincere with their emotions, singing for an audience can be scary but in a private lesson I encourage trying things out even if they seem silly.
