I am a musician that plays by ear but I know some theory as well so I try to find a happy medium when it comes to the needs of each student. So understanding each student's gift is paramount in guiding them through certain fundamentals. My philosophy has been to not tamper with the raw talent but instead, grow it. Though unorthodox, I found that tapping into the soul of passion, the student will feel a greater sense of freedom and appreciation for the craft. Read More

I teach combination of the Suzuki method and the Hungarian style (stressing the natural, comfortable, painless, tension free method). For young students, the Suzuki method is great, since the repertoire is all fun! Also the CD that comes with every level is vital! Children enjoy and benefit from that. I am an audiophile, so I can set up students with a quality hifi system on the cheap - this is so vital in Suzuki method, as he stated in his book, Nurtured With Love. Read More

For beginning students who are children, I typically start with blend of methods based on the game form of learning, in which all the appropriate to the child's age skills are acquired through the fun techniques and songs. For piano lessons I prefer use the Alfred's piano books or Hal Leonard's books, for voice lessons I use the methods of classical singing school, Set Riggs method and pop & jazz techniques, it depends on the style, that student prefers to learn. Each student's talent is very unique, and so is their learning style: some people are more visual learners, some are kinesthetic, while others prefer to learn by ear. I make a point to insure that every single student "gets it," no matter what their favorite method is. I always incorporate music they love into the lessons, so I can teach them general music concepts through what they already know and have an interest in. Read More

Nothing is more rewarding then passing your love for music on to a student. Each person learns at there own pace and skill level. With each lesson we will set small reachable and realistic goals. These goals will fit in with your larger overall goals. My teaching style is different then others as I'm able to tailor each lesson to fit your needs rather then go through a strict regiment.
