Teaching music is my calling in life. It has taken me many years to actually say that with full confidence, but when I consider the joy I experience while teaching, and also look at the growth and improvement my students experience throughout their time with me, it is really clear: this is what I love, and this is what I have a unique gifting to do. I have two degrees in music: a Master's in Vocal Performance from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, and a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education from Iowa State University. I desire for the student to learn as much about themselves as they do their instrument. I believe that piano and voice are conduits for expression of emotion and thought and are extremely beneficial in helping students find confidence and awareness. My main motto is that EVERYONE can make music and so I encourage all types of people to learn at my studio. My goal as a private educator is to find what each of my students enjoys about learning music. When sequential learning is introduced, along with material that motivates, this encourages dedication and progression. I believe most students learn best when they feel they have input in some of the learning process. My students are also encouraged to participate in competitions and recitals. From there we move on: Beginner students will work on basic fundamentals. Advanced students will work on the chosen piano piece. Afterwards will discuss what next lesson's goal will be. In order for students to achieve their goals, both long-term and short-term, it is expected of them to practice at least 30 minutes a day. For beginner students who are children, I would like them to work up to 30 minutes. I would suggest starting with 10 - 15 minutes of practice time everyday. Read More

I began helping my friends work through their music when I was 19 at Missouri Western State University, and eventually cultivated a bustling studio of students through word of mouth. I now teach full time in Zoom and in person with house visits, or at my home studio. My students regularly perform very well at state competitions, form bands of their own, and have found great cause in writing their own music outside of academia. Read More

I graduated in 2017 from the University of Missouri - Columbia with a degree in Interdisciplinary studies with an emphasis in Music Education.
