I teach a breath based technique with a focus on relaxation. I want to help each individual find their true instrument. I like to use the 24 Italian Songs and Arias (Italian Art Songs) book as a basis for learning breath technique, legato, use of vowels and musicality, as well as being exposed to a foreign language. I always want to make sure my students can apply what they learn in my lessons to their participation in their actual choirs. If a student is preparing for a PMEA Choir audition, I will help them prepare the repertoire as well as provide a mock audition. If they sing in a church choir, we will work on sight singing hymns as well as working on any difficult literature. If they simply want to learn more about music theory, I will focus on that. For Voice I cater my teaching to the student's goals and aspirations. The first 10-15 minutes of a lessons are spent doing vocal warmups and sightsinging exercises. The remaining time is spent working on repertoire that the student and myself choose together. For Piano I work out of the Faber Piano Adventure Books. These can easily be purchased on amazon after the first lesson. For continual progress, it's imperative that the student has a piano or keyboard at home to practice on. Read More

My teaching experiences stems back to my undergraduate career at the John J. Cali School of music. I began teaching and tutoring underclassmen in theory, piano and voice while also teaching dance classes in the community. After I graduated I continued teaching and gained an assistantship to continue voice lessons to undergraduate non-majors. I also was the assistant director for our musical theater revue. After I returned from my masters work I contued teaching as various private schools in the New Jersey area before being hired as an artist affiliate at Bucknell University in 2015. Read More
