I keep track each week in a notebook of what their assignments are. I use many different books, learning by ear, learning by youtube, learning by rout, and I have developed my own music writing technique which decodes any song at any level to a much easier level because all students are unique, and deserve to have a teacher who can reach them. For beginning students, I always start by learning the notes on the staff that corresponds with their specific instrument. Knowledge and confidence of this is crucial to the learning process. Next, I pick a method book to work through to learn the fundamentals. For trombone, I use Rubank's "Elementary Method." It is a great progressive studies that has great explanations, exercises, etudes, duets, mini-solos, scales studies, and more for young students. Read More

I began teaching voice lessons my senior year of high school. When I got to college I began work as a show choir director in Hartford, CT. I have learned so much from my students. I have learned to teach in a way that students of all ages will understand. An example of this is teaching a young student how to use their head voice when singing high notes. This is important because a student can damage their vocal cords if they use chest voice high up in the scale. Read More

I graduated from SUNY Purchase where I received my Bachelor's in Music Composition. I've performed all over the country with my original indie folk songs, mainly focusing my touring efforts on the SouthEast over the past few years.
