I have been passionately teaching guitar lessons to people of all ages and experience levels since 2000. I also taught youth and teen band classes and clinics at Plugged In Band Program in Needham, MA from 2005 to 2018, prior to moving to Los Angeles in January 2019. I enjoy passing on wisdom gained from years of playing in professional bands and studying music. I continue to strive to push the limits of my own playing, and encourage my students to do the same. I do enjoy teaching out of books, especially younger children. It gives a visual to emphasize what I am teaching. A lot of the books I use are from Hal Leonard, but then I also have custom exercises for all different genres of music. Younger students, I tend to teach reading music with single notes as it is easier on the hands. It then creates an avenue to introduce basic music theory concepts. Read More

Depending on where the student is on their development, and which instrument: Guitar - I typically try and start with fundamentals such as how to hold your instrument.. where in the fret to press and make it sing and sound correct. I usually give them a couple simple, one or two string ditties to practice. Then I usually go over some of the basic, commonly used chords and have the student practice on making sure that they can hear all the correct strings ring when they strike the chord. Read More

My teaching experience started in my undergrad career when I started taking students on part time. I supplement my live performances income with teaching because I love to teach and see my students' love of the bass increase with each lesson. I like to tell my students to practice everyday even if it is only for 10 minutes, because it gets them into a routine. I work with students to learn the material they want to learn and provide supplemental material when asked to do so. Read More

I believe in using your ears as the most important tool. Which means I believe in playing music rather than reading it. Growing up playing music by ear. I prefer this way of teaching and only use sheet music as an assistant to help the student get to a certain goal. As a teacher I can help you grow your abilities on your instrument. Help you achieve the cool warm sound you want from the saxophone. Read More
