When I'm not performing, I keeps himself busy with his teaching schedule by teaching throughout Orange and LA County. As of this updated bio due to COVID-19 (Nov. 2020), I have been doing a hybrid format of teaching, primarily through Zoom with some in person instruction while maintaining orders of social distancing and wearing masks. I began my teaching career in Texas.  I have worked as a private guitar instructor at various music schools in Texas and in Southern California for the past twelve years.  I also enjoy teaching guitar, ukulele, and bass guitar to students in my home studio. Typically I break my lessons into two parts; half dedicated to learning songs, and the other half dedicated to learning chords. For songs I'll start out with very basic melody songs (beginners), eventually working in power chords and tackling classic rock favorites, and finally incorporating chords/barre chords/soloing. I've found that the most effective way to teach fundamentals is to do it within the context of my students' favorite songs. This provides instant gratification as the student is able to play something they know and like while at the same time they're learning the techniques they'll need for more complicated challenges in the future. For younger students who haven't developed their own taste in music yet I introduce them to songs of many different styles so that they can start to determine where they want to go musically in the future.
