I am the bassist with Baltimore's critically acclaimed funk/soul artist, Bosley. I also perform in the jazz quartet, Otherworld, with Jeffrey Chappell, Jake Marinari, and Jake Kohlhas, and I have appeared with Jon Mathis, Seth Kibel, and Wes Crawford at the Goucher Summer Arts Institute Jazz Camp. I studied electric bass with Golder O'Niell at Shenandoah University, electric bass with Steve Yankee at Goucher College, and double bass under Laura Ruas at Peabody University. Read More

I am very easy to work with and incorporate FUN into my lessons. My primary goal is to see my students enjoying music and liking what they are doing. This will get them to work more towards their goals as they grow through adolescence and into high school and college. Since each student is different I try to focus on reading their reactions to the material in order to to determine what they are understanding and what they are not. Read More

I have been teaching privately and at different schools and music stores since 1997. I attended Musicians Institute in Hollywood, CA, I completed their BA program in 1999. After playing in various bands for a few years I decided to start writing, recording and producing music for placements on TV, Films, Commercials, etc. I have been doing that since 2003, I play guitar, bass and other stringed instruments on most of my music and for other artists as well. My string bass teacher was Charles "Slats"Sladovnik who was a carpenter by trade and played in the Great Neck symphony orchestra, and what we called club dates in that era. I was busy practicing and playing jobs. I normally didn't use the word gig as I felt it didn't give the total respect to all musical work. In my case I soon learned that practice was taking one task at a time and trying to perfect it. Read More

My approach varies depending on the student's skill level and chosen instrument, but for beginners I always try to get them familiarized with their instrument: teaching them the basics of reading music and how to navigate the different keys (or strings, etc.). From there I start teaching various musical concepts, the rudiments of music theory, and begin introducing them to different styles of music. When the student is advanced enough, I start having them run through my own custom designed technique and skill drills, and have them start selecting music that they would like to perform on their own. I began my training in piano and guitar when I was 7 years old. My interest in music has led me to continue to learn other instruments. I have 7 children and have taught and continue to teach them various instruments in my home. This has allowed us to perform musically as a family in various parts of the country. My oldest daughter has gone on to acquire a degree in vocal performance. Read More

For students of all ages, it is important to remember that the individual is key. From the youngest beginner to the seasoned pro, everyone learns in their own individual way. Because of this, I find it very necessary to hone in on the interests, aptitude, and abilities of each of my students in order to give them the best possible instruction. A student who is engaged on their own terms and who has a say in their own path through music instruction often becomes a successful and lifelong musician. Read More
