My passion for teaching has grown over the years, and brought me great pleasure helping beginner students gain skills, confidence, and a sense of pride and accomplishment in learning to successfully play a musical instrument. My first professional experience playing live was playing with Eric Clapton's drummer Jamie Oldecker at age 15 in a small club in Tulsa Oklahoma .James started playing guitar at age 12 after hearing Jimi Hendrix Electric Lady Land and never wanted to do anything else. James soon was playing Larry Carlton and The Crusaders note for note he studied jazz, R &B, funk fusion, metal ,pop, rock guitar and classical composition. Performed and/or recorded almost any style of music ranging from Jazz with the Collin College big band, top combo, and University of North Texas forum ensembles, to Country with artists such as Kevin Deal and Jake Ward. Additionally, I have played bass at a number of churches around the DFW Metroplex some of which include Southlake Baptist, Creekwood United Methodist, Crossroads Bible Church, and First United Methodist McKinney. I have also been a member of several local level Denton indie rock and pop bands, and have experience in an orchestra at the high school level in which I qualified for UIL State solo and ensemble in 2013.
