I was studying Electrical Engineering for two years at Tufts University before I decided to take a leap and follow my passion of music. It has been an incredible journey ever since! I have had the oppurtunity to play a wide variety of musical styles including rock jam-band, folk trio, jazz ensembles, latin jazz, chamber music, solo, duo, avante-garde, electronic, and many more. No matter what the situation, I always love to play, create, and share music with others. Read More

I am a lifelong student of music. I began playing the guitar at a very young age, 7 years old, and was playing in public by the time I was 12 years old. Around this time I took a correspondence course in Arranging from the then Berklee School of Music, which did eventually also become my alma mater and I even began teaching for my teacher. I have played and performed throughout the new England states as a solo performer and in bands/ensembles, and have had some of my orchestral works performed by the Prague Symphony Orchestra, truly an achievement for a kid who grew up as a rocker. I strongly believe that everyone is very different.  Learning styles and musical goals are very much a part of this.  Some find reading from a book helps them, so for most students I begin by recommending "A Modern Method For Guitar" from the Berklee Press, however for others a book is not as helpful as listening to some music and watching someone play.  I like to introduce as much theory as is desired from the student because theory is a very important part of the musical process, but if the student prefers to get playing first and understand the “why” later then we can work something out in that regard.  Depending on musical interest, we can work with different genre's and pieces to promote specific techniques and practice routines. I have been playing music for over 30 years, starting with the drums at age 12, and then guitar at age 14. I attended Berklee College of Music and graduated cum laude with a B.A. in Professional Music in 1995. My main areas of focus while in college was jazz composition and performance. I have been teaching professionally since 1996, and have since picked up other instruments such as bass, piano, and alto sax. Read More

I always enjoy seeing my students develop a passion for music! I don't use a standard book system since my lessons are geared around the individual students musical taste. I set realistic goals and always make sure I am not overwhelming the student with work or information. During a lesson I frequent stop to make sure their understanding the information i am giving them. I am flexible with my schedule, and it's pretty easy to reschedule a lesson with me if need be. Now the student has the expectation that, at whatever point of progress, we will be playing songs through, in steady tempo, clearly and with proper technique. Thus the student/teacher relationship becomes a microcosm of playing in a band! The student is empowered by concrete success, and I, the teacher, am rewarded by the affirmation of getting her/him to play successfully. Further on, I use my sense of what sorts of music the student likes and is interested in, to direct our process in a direction which they will enjoy and which will motivate them. Read More

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
