This is where I think it is fun to be creative because we are all different. Everybody has a different method of interpretation and I feel like that is my job to figure out what works for you as an individual. For example I will simply ask you questions like what style of music are you listening to and songs you want to learn how to play. It is also my job to know the difficulty level and how to guide you in the right direction to keep things fun! Read More

I believe in learning the fundamentals but I believe that experience should be enjoyable. That's why we "play" music in the first place! This can mean different things to different students but a focus on positive reinforcement and encouragement toward specific musical goals will always be the guiding factor in my approach. I also encourage students to take ownership of the musical skills learned by experimenting with composition and improvisation. Read More

I am a fun and passionate teacher when it comes to music. When attending college for my performance degree I had thought that I would not want to teach others and just focus on performing. And as much as I love to perform I have found a love for passing along my enthusiasm and knowledge of music. I have worked as a Pre-K teacher for 7 years before deciding to try to make giving lessons a full-time thing, which I am still working towards. Read More

We will go over basic theory at first and then start learning some simple melodies and chord progressions. For students that are more intermediate and want to learn a style of music, I will break down the basic elements of what the guitar incorporates into that style of music. Read More

My teaching experience dates back to my college days, as I began teaching private lessons part time 8 years ago, and have been consistently teaching students in my home studio for the last 5 years. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument. I've also found that a combination of classical and modern music can go a long way in helping students enjoy the piano and motivate them to practice and continue to learn. Read More
