For every student, I initally assess why they are taking lessons and what their goals are. Together we create a plan to acheive those goals. For young beginners, I like the FJH guitar series. It was written by guitar educators. I also teach the student to play fun songs and tunes to supplmement the books. For teens and adults, the path depends on their goals, which aren't always in a book. Read More

I thoroughly enjoy making my own curriculums based on each student's unique learning style. I do combine elements of other books or methods I've seen or learned myself too though, and am open to working through any books that the student themself finds interesting. Normally for beginner musicians, I like to take them through the basics of reading sheet music, as that has been a cornerstone to my learning as well. Read More

I’ve been teaching since my High School days. For the past 10 years i’ve been focusing on Individual, private lessons, both person-to-person and online. I teach students of all ages and all levels, focusing on each student’s interests and needs. Students come to me with different questions, interests and needs, and my focus is to adress those in a simple, practical manner. I also teach music theory and the basics of arranging for small ensembles, because nowdays, most students look to perform their own music. Read More

Music lessons should be fun - I have practical tips for practicing but the student's desire to learn will be the drive. The most important thing is to keep picking up that instrument - even if its for 5-10 minutes a day. By modeling that all teachers are still students, I create a safe and supportive environment. I like to hear what kind of music my students are listening to and incorporate that in the process, as it excites and motivates students to play the music that they love to listen to. Read More

I began my musical studies when I was 6 years old. At the age of 10 I was already able to play with tremendous fluency different instruments, but I focused mainly on piano, guitar, voice and electric bass. When I was 14 years old, I got interested in Jazz, Tango and classical music so I started playing the upright bass because it is an essential instrument in these styles of music. After finishing high school, I was already a musician with excellent skills in many different instruments and with a huge understanding of music. Read More

The most rewarding part of being a teacher is to see your students grow and love their musicianship. Music is a language that is more universal than any other language in the world! Passing on the knowledge and works of composers and artists from yesterday to today. I set realistic goals for my students that are achievable and rewarding. I tend to look on the positive side of each performance and I teach through kindness humor and respect. Read More

I initially have a student work on a series of simple fingering exercises. This gets the student familiar with the feel of the instrument and helps to reinforce how the left and right hands work together when performing. Another benefit is that it helps the student to build speed/dexterity when playing. When these exercises/techniques have been mastered I then introduce the student to concepts such as notes, scales, intervals, basic chord structure, etc. Read More
