I strive to be an effective teacher whos able to provide a catered, caring, and educated learning experience for my students. I like to grow with my students as well, hopefully learning just as much from them as they learn from me. To grow as a person is the ultimate goal for myself and for my students and we use music to get there. I like to believe that I have found many ways to create a fun, productive, and educational environment in my own home or in a separate teaching facility. Read More

I am is a singer, songwriter and guitarist based out of Nashville, TN. Although firmly rooted in bluegrass and classic country, my music incorporates elements from all facets of American roots music drawing inspiration from jazz, blues, rockabilly and old-time. I lead my own country band which plays original music as well as the music of my honky-tonk heroes such as Merle Haggard, George Jones and Gram Parsons. I am an in-demand side man and when not performing with the band, I play guitar and sing with a number of other musicians and bands including The Bad Oats, Miles Burger and Corrina Tadros. Read More

I believe, first and foremost, your passion for music and your instrument is the most important element when learning. There is nothing better than seeing a students eyes light up when they have accomplished their goal! With that said, I want to know what music inspires you and what styles you love. I grew up worshiping Stevie Ray Vaughn and so I focused on blues music as a young kid but draw inspiration from all different genres and learned many forms and styles. Read More

It is important that every student learns and improves at their own pace because everyone learns differently. So I break down songs and theory in to increments so that they can be more easily digested over time. I find that this method of learning is extremely helpful in the retention of the knowledge the student learns. Also not all students are interested in learning the same things so I think it is very important to find out what the student wants to learn and gain from playing music and what their expectations for themselves are. I've touched on this briefly above, but, my main focus in teaching a student is always to help them find their own musical voice. For beginners this means, not only helping them learn the rudiments and basics of music, but also exposing them to various styles and approaches they may not otherwise encounter. Usually, this will lead a student to a level of inspiration where they see the learning of a musical instrument as a lifetime commitment and a journey that is constantly exciting and demanding. I teach them to play scales with a metronome and they are usually playing 16 th notes and counting it out while they play it in the first month.I want to get them off and running. I teach them to read chord charts in the first month and have students reading notation in F and G clef in 5-6 hours worth of lesson time. My theory teacher Mr Lormand, had a master from Julliard and was a stickler for the vernacular and so am I, my grandmother was a school teacher and I get a lot from her as well.I get my students to buy a Harvard Dictionary of music for reference. Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
