I began teaching piano in high school and continued into my college years. I then spent the next decade touring in bands and recording in some of the top studios in Los Angeles. I have worked with some of the best in the business including Rick Rubin, John Shanks, and Jason Falkner, just to name a few. These experiences have given me the knowledge of being a musician in the real world, which I try and impart to my students. Read More

Now I've recently moved to LA to pursue the next stage of my teaching and recording career. In the last few years, I've attained recognition and close partnerships with some of the industry's leading producers for excellence in songwriting, overall musicianship, and the potential for a long-term recording career. Some of these producers include Shelly Yakus (John Lennon, U2, Tom Petty) - Former vice president of A&M Records and nominee for Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Ross Hogarth (Van Halen, Ziggy Marley, Motley Crue) - Three-time Grammy winner and top LA engineer, Toby Wright (Alice In Chains, Metallica, Kiss) - Top alternative/hard rock producer of the 90s and 2000s, and Nick Didia (Pearl Jam, Rage Against the Machine, Bruce Springsteen) - 40 millions record sold. During my first meeting with a new student I ask them questions about their prior experiences, current knowledge, and musical aspirations. From there I tailor a unique learning strategy geared towards their goals, personality, and aptitude. I always try to use music that the student enjoys to spotlight the concept we are covering, and encourage the student to think about it while they listen to their favorite songs. The greatest payoff I can think of is when a student gets the immediate satisfaction that comes along with hearing an audience cheer for them after a good performance, and I do my best to curate these opportunities! Piano Marvel and Alfred's piano methods are a great start for all ages as they have books that are geared toward both younger and older beginners. For guitar and bass there are various Hal Leonard books that work well; one thing that I try to do with guitar and bass students is encourage them to know what note they are playing and to eventually read music notation if they are curious and interested in it. My method is a mix of theory and practice that we apply in every lesson, I prepare my material and provide everything to you to bring back home and practice when I am not around so after every class, you will have some homework to keep advancing in your journey when I am not around. Depending on your level, we start with the basics and start scaling to more advanced topics, we start from the beginning to build up your setlist so after your first few months you should be ready to do your first show, that could be in front of your family or if you wanna prepare for a real show we work towards that as well. For beginners, I start with the basics. I will show the student the anatomy of the guitar or bass and how to care for it. After that, I will begin to teach basic techniques. I will show how to pluck the strings and fret the notes. Once the student has a grasp of those concepts, I will teach them basic chords and scales. I will also teach the student how to sight read because in my opinion it is one of the greatest skills a musician needs. Read More
