I began teaching private lessons while in college, teaching classical, electric and acoustic guitar. For the past 5 years that I have been in Nashville I have been teaching again for the last 2. I have experience in teaching students as young as 5 and as old as 65. There is no age limit on learning! Something I was always told in my lessons both, as a teenager and in college was that it is vastly more important to practice a little each day than to try and cram a marathon session into one day. I began teaching lessons in college. Most of my early students were elementary-school aged and novice. There, I learned that regular practice must be encouraged to allow interest to begin to pique and passion begin to form. I firmly believe that hard work and discipline go much further than talent alone. I also firmly believe in fun! My most deeply seeded goal is for my students to develop a life-long love and practice of music! Read More

I have been a private music instructor since I was 17 years old. I have taught students from ages 4 to 50 and up. I am able to teach many different genres because I have performed, written, and produced them. All that I have learned has been hard won, and applied in real world settings. Not just a classroom. I have used everything that I will teach you In my career. Teaching music is one of my passions. Read More

I love showing students how to work to learn, once they see how work pays off you can't stop them. I have my own Learn To Play Guitar book that I now use as handouts that have vocabulary, open chords, bar chords, inside chords, along with major and relative minor scales. The handouts are in color and done with a graphics program so they're not handwritten. I teach them to play scales with a metronome and they are usually playing 16th notes and counting it out while they play it in the first month. Read More

As a teacher I strive to give my students their best guide to success, knowing that every student has their own individual needs and ambitions. I like to start beginning students on Pearson's Standard of Excellence books and then broadening out to other methods after they get a good grasp of the basic elements of their instrument. More advanced players will be taught aspects of music theory and how to become more of a complete musician rather than just being a good player. Read More

I've had my songs played on national TV and at awards shows. I currently teach music at a private Academy in Nashville during the morning and love working with the students to develope their technical as well as musical abilities. I have a home studio where I keep all my instruments, guitars, basses, piano, trumpet and percussion instruments. Having traveled and played extensively in both the US and Canada, I have been fortunate to meet many different people of various backgrounds, and cultures, and consequently share my music with them. I am not a taskmaster. I will gladly give homework and direction for what to practice, but it is not my job to berate students for not practicing as much as I would like them to. Everyone understands that music requires regular practice, and I believe that if it is worth it to a student to find the time to improve rapidly, they will make that time. I think my job is to meet you where you are every lesson, whether you want to invest hours a day into your improvement or whether this is a casual hobby. Read More
