I have had many students on and off over the years. I tend to focus on making music or teaching but not both as I find doing anything well involves 100% committment. For the next 4 or 5 years I am focused on teaching exclusively. My knowledge is vast and I am excited to convey this knowledge to others! Trust me you will not be disappointed! The methods I teach will not only get you progressing but self-progressing and will cover a variety of instruments. Read More

I am an energetic and passionate educator who enjoys teaching all kinds of music to students of all skill and age levels. A graduate of Michigan State University with a degree in Jazz Studies, I've been professionally performing and recording music of many different genres such as jazz, rock, blues, rnb, pop, folk, swing, and country for over ten years. Performing all over the state of Michigan, the Portland Oregon metropolitan area, along the west coast, and now the New York metropolitan area has been an incredibly enriching experience that has shaped my principals and values, personally and musically. My teaching style is by assigning studies and etudes to develop fundamentals while simultaneously incorporating the learnt fundamentals into “real-time”, on the job training! I have learned all of my most valuable lessons while performing and being put on the spot; I will teach my students how to be prepared for any situation, not only in regard to music but also in relation to life, by having a calm and steady approach to the task at hand! For a beginning student on guitar, I have them learning notes from a Hal Leonard, Mel Bay, or Alfred starter book. All these books are great, but I believe it depends on the individual student and how they learn. I also teach tab to beginners. I feel it is important to read tabs these days as well as notes. I also work with music theory. It is also important to know what you are doing, not just putting your fingers on the strings. Read More

I'm a dedicated and passionate student and teacher of music and enjoy teaching just as much as playing. I'm a graduate of Muhlenberg College with a BA in music performance. As much as I love performing in front of an audience, I get the same warm satisfaction out of constant practice and sharpening of my skills on my own. As someone who regularly plays with working, Grammy-nominated musicians in the tri-state area I've found that the musical values I hold dear translate all across the board to all players and styles. My teaching experience dates back to my high school days, as I began teaching private lessons part time 15 years ago, and have been consistently teaching students in my home studio for the last 10 years. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument. I've also found that a combination of jazz and modern music can go a long way in helping students enjoy the drums and motivate them to practice and continue to learn. Read More

I consider my teaching style to be comprised of two major components - physical and mental. The physical component includes things like picking, strumming, finger strength, finger dexterity, and left hand/right hand coordination. For this, I provide a variety of exercises which do not necessarily require musical knowledge. These can be taught at any time, but are especially valuable early in a student's learning path. They are also effective warm-up exercises before practice and before performances. Read More

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
