My number one goal is to help my students accomplish their musical dreams, whether that be a classical pianist, a pop singer, the front person for a rock band, write songs or compose music for film, or just sing their favorite song of all time, whatever it takes, I will make sure that we get to the musical destination. It's important that each student progresses at their own pace. I always ask my students for one long term goal and one short term goal so that we can cast vision for where we are headed, map out the challenges along the way, but also celebrate the goals that we accomplish especially in the short term. I have a very personal teaching method to everyone. Depending on my student needs, I choose the book we go by. It can vary from Hal Leonard to Mel Bay or Jamie Aebersold. When I have classical guitar guys, I can pick between Andreas Segovia or Ted Tennant, etc. For jazz, for example, Frank Gambale or Scott Henderson, etc. Most important, I focus on fundamentals and discipline, making sure we have something new to explore every lesson if we can. My more recent experience has been as an educational artist for Alliance Theatre in Atlanta, Ga. I’ve had private students from all ages and ethnic backgrounds. The awesome thing about teaching music is that no matter what language one may speak we all can communicate through music. I feel that music is my strongest form of communication and bringing people together. Read More
