Again, music is a deeply personal subject and I want to encourage every student to find their unique voice and love for music. My goal is to develop strong all-around music skills along with learning the technique of the instrument they chose. Every student works at a different pace, and I plan accordingly. I like to set reachable, realistic goals for students each week to develop a strong sense of accomplishment and hunger to learn more the following week. Read More

Through the foundation I've gained by the influences of Mel Bay, Hal Leonard, and Suzuki musical instruction methods, I compile my own teaching materials. Using personally constructed guitar lessons, I demonstrate, instruct, and guide the student based on my assessment of their individual needs, skill level, and progress. Lessons are formulated in Modules, and advancement through them is based on the student's personal aptitude, skill level, and practice commitment. Learning is accomplished by ear as well as through essential methods of musical notation (tablature, 5-line staff, rhythmic comprehension). Read More

Voice: The voice is a fascinating instrument. We use it every day from the moment we're born and it is constantly changing as we progress through life. I love guiding singers through these changes and unlocking their true voice with individualized curricula that cater to what the voice needs. Exercises and songs are carefully chosen and provided sequentially based on the singer's current ability and specific goals. I start lessons with an assessment that helps me determine the technical abilities and musical abilities of the singer. Read More

Yes for teaching piano I use Nancy and Randall Faber's books. I have used all of them. For guitar and mandolin I generally do not use a "book". As the lessons progress I might introduce a book if that is what is called for. All orchestral instruments call for the structure of a book and I augment that with my own explanations. This is true for all ages of learners. Read More

My journey has taken me to renowned music halls such as the Mozarteum, Walt Disney Concert Hall, Kodak Hall, and even the iconic Carnegie Hall. As a runner-up in the Eastman School of Music Concerto Competition, I have always strived for excellence both in my personal performance as well as in education. What truly sets me apart is the outstanding success of my students. Many have achieved significant milestones, earning spots in All-State and All-County ensembles and attaining high marks in district and state competitions. Read More

My method in teaching depends on the instrument and the age. For beginners on band instruments and piano, I would start them with a method book of their choosing (though I would steer them in a good direction). For guitar and drumset, the use of method books is fine...but this would not be my first approach. It is important for students to be familiar and fluent in music notation. Read More
