Students will likely begin in a method book of some form, and eventually will use supplementary material as needed. The method books for Younger students typically consists of 3 or more levels depending on their skill, while the method books for older students provide a good outline of the technique for the instrument. The supplements provide materials to develop musicianship and artistry through repertoire. This approach allows the lesson to be tailored to the students' overall purpose for taking the lessons. I have taught cello consistently since 2014. I received pedagogical training from my cello teacher Regina Mushabac in 2014. This included taking on several students, some of whom stayed on with me until I left Ohio for California. While these students all came to me at various skill levels, I made sure to revisit with them the fundamentals of technique, posture, and basic knowledge of the instrument, including eliminating tension. In 1984 I was a music instructor for the Canadian Forces School of Music in Esquimalt British Columbia. Over the last three decades I have taught one-on-one lessons and ensembles at all levels including Elementary, Middle, and High School levels. It was here that I realized that I am very passionate about music education and I want to continue seriously pursuing it. I teach from the traditional method.  I use the String Builder as it give the student a step by step method on how to learn the notes and how to understand the notes on the page.  This method teaches you 2 ideas simultaneously.  You read music, and play at the same time.  There are many methods of teaching, and I am aware of all of them, but I am very successful with the Traditional method and the String Builder Method Book.
