I may or may not continue teaching out of the books (there's 3), but that depends on the student. By book 2 or 3 I usually begin introducing Suzuki, as there are many solo pieces for them. I do believe that understanding of music theory is necessary to advance beyond the intermediate level, and this system has assisted in training many students over the years.
