To witness students making progress and share their passion for music is quite rewarding. I love to see how teaching music can also affect students in their personal lives. Some teaching methods can be translated to everyday life challenges. From my experience, learning an instrument or music, in general, can help tremendously to deal with day-to-day struggles or even mental state. It can help to deal with depression or ease some pain related to difficulties in their personal lives. Read More

My main focus of teaching is on the student, and on developing and expanding their existing musical interests. I develop a lesson plan and schedule that begins with the musical interests and passions of the student, their favorite bands, favorite songs and musical styles. From there I take each of their favorite pieces of music and demonstrate how the building blocks of music were used to create each, and how they can not only recreate their favorites, but start to create their own musical identity. I believe in getting the student interested in the concepts and styles themselves, i like to introduce them to different ways of playing and my main method is to show them how it can be exciting to play/learn. For eg, for someone who loves games, I would show them how to play chords and melody ( on a piano ) at the same time by using the Minecraft theme song as an example, or any game that they might know and enjoy so it gets them interested to want to play and learn, through that i will show them dfferent techniques and concepts, this way they are already enjoying what they are learning and at no point will not want to practice it on their own. My students see me repeatedly for years and they know that I only ask them to do their best, and they recognize when they fall short. I talk to my kids like adults, and they respond maturely. They are aware that I have my own drumming goals and that their progress is NOT the absolute most important thing on my list. This keeps them motivated. My lessons are more demanding then other teachers, and although my methods seem tough, I am constantly surprised of the many invitations I get to my students' performances, plays, sports games, birthday parties, thanksgiving dinners, etc. Read More

I like too see where the study is playing-wise and design a custom learning plan for the student and his/her goals and help them reach their goals quicker with a planned practice schedule. I also start students off with reading which helps them better understand rhythm and being able to read music is a huge plus in todays music world. It also allows the student to get more done from practice sessions in my experience. Read More

I'm a passionate and motivated instructor who loves working with students and sharing my love of music and arts. Throughout my career, I have made it a priority to educate, expand, and develop the audience in a very creative way. I have taught in various educational programs in Ecuador, Brazil and Los Angeles, including the Guri Santa Marcelina da Cultura Project (So Paulo), the CalArts Community Arts Association (CAP, Los Angeles) and Cultivating Creative Minds (Los Angeles). Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
