Since I started working professionally as a drummer at the age of 17, I have had the chance to perform in Europe, America, Africa and Asia, in some of the most prestigious live music venues, festivals and theaters around the globe. I have collaborated on projects with many bands and musicians across all genres from jazz to funk, rock, pop, flamenco, tango, world music and classical music. Since 2005 I have been a percussionist with the National Dance Academy in Italy, and I am currently playing for the Juilliard Dance Department in New York and the Merce Cunningham Trust in New York. As a professional touring and recording artist, I am happy to share my knowledge of playing in multiple musical settings, and the "business" of playing music. My passion is for live performance, and it is essential to help students feel confident while playing for an audience. Our focus will be on developing proper technique, listening carefully and critically to recordings, and building a foundational music vocabulary via reading and writing. Read More

I firmly believe that no student is "too young" to learn about more advanced music and techniques. With that being said, I will also push my students to move to the next level. I set very attainable goals that all students of any age can reach, while always adding a little more. Again, this is all related to the students understanding of rhythm and their relationships to each other. No matter the instrument, I always look for the new and "cool" music and teaching styles to keep up with the rapidly changing world. Read More

For beginner students, the typical groundwork begins with a straight ahead, simple rock groove to begin a sense of understanding around coordination as well as fundamental understanding of rhythm behind the kit. From there, any natural ability will begin to shine, and it's through those natural strengths that everything else will be based on. Lessons topics can then range from technique, groove/feel, listening to music and musicians, various exercises, learning different genres, etc- all built around the students individual interests! I don't believe that there is any single "right" way to make or produce music. Music is an international language that transcends boundaries of statehood, culture, and identity. As a South African, I was raised on the drumbeats and rhythms of traditional Zulu and Xhosa folk music. Upon moving to the UK, I received classical "western" training in drum kit, chorus, and piano. In my professional career, I learned the "rules" of recording and production, mastering Pro Tools under the tutelage of some of the finest producers in the business. Read More

I guess my point is, I can play any instrument and if I had more time in the world, I could practice more. I took all of the music classes in my college and I passed with flying colors (except brown because he has a broken wing so he can't fly that much, but other colors flew high). I even took Opera and passed that with an A. I love all kinds of music and I am willing to teach any kind of music to my students. Read More
