My teaching experience dates back to when I was a student at the Los Angeles High School for the Arts. While pursuing my own education I also had five private drum students ranging from the ages of 7-15. I am fortunate enough to have learned a great deal about teaching all different ages from my father, who has been a private guitar teacher for over 35 years. During my time at Berklee College of Music, I taught group clinics and while our tour with the Karen Lovely Band I mentored mentally handicapped music students in the Netherlands with a group called United By Music. I have a method in place, but my lessons often take sudden detours when we need to work on a specific task (i.e. preparing for school band auditions) at the students request. Through my encouragement, my students play gigs, talent shows, in their school concerts, etc. Some are now professional drum teachers. I teach kids with special needs, adults, and professional musicians (drummers and nondrummers). My students' parents love me because I teach kids how to sharpen focus, increase attention span, listen intently, and memorize material more efficiently. Read More

In my teaching I make sure that my students never feel overwhelmed or confused by the material.  I give them reasonable assignments based on their skill level and make sure to give them reasons for everything they are doing.  I always try to help my students achieve little accomplishments in every lesson.
