Although this is highly recommended, I create different lesson plans for each individual student. I typically use and coach students from "Stick Control: for the snare drummer", "Syncopation for the modern drummer" and "The Blue Book" for drums. I also like to play in the lessons with my students so I can model things for them, and it gives them a concrete example of what to do, rather than just having an abstract idea of it.
