My methods vary on the student and subject. Beginning students will typically focus more on technical pieces of music to improve on certain aspects of a few pieces to perform. More advanced students will still practice technical parts of their music, but less time will be spent on it during a lesson. Advanced level students will spend more time on repertoire and performance. The more advanced a student gets, the more I expect them to practice outside of lessons and apply their newly learned technical skills into their music on their own. Read More

My teaching style involves stressing feel, timing, and confidence over note-for-note accuracy. I also spend a lot of time developing proper technique with my students, to ensure that my students do not form bad habits that limit their improvement. Trained in a competitive drumline environment, I have an eagle eye for ways to rapidly improve students' techniques and rudimental abilities. My lessons are all about fun! I see what you can play already, what you like to listen to, and I adapt to how you learn best. I pick songs that you enjoy that are also going to teach you how to play the drums! At the same time, I'll introduce exercises that relate to what we're playing that will transfer to other songs.
