I teach combination of the Suzuki method and the Hungarian style (stressing the natural, comfortable, painless, tension free method). For young students, the Suzuki method is great, since the repertoire is all fun! Also the CD that comes with every level is vital! Children enjoy and benefit from that. I am an audiophile, so I can set up students with a quality hifi system on the cheap - this is so vital in Suzuki method, as he stated in his book, Nurtured With Love. Read More

My teaching experience has always been for the student learning at least ONE new thing from during my lessons. I began teaching non officially to other drummers at various gigs across L.A. that liked what they saw during my performances. Because of this I met a lot of amazing individuals who are going to do great things. I realized that after a few years, I wanted to officially start teaching others because of the joy it gave me to see the light bulb turn on in someones head who felt as if they couldn't get it right. I have an interactive yet focused style of teaching. I can(but don't recommend) to use the Suzuki method. I feel that all aspects related to the instruments weigh much importance in teaching the student. However, with the Suzuki method, the student's primary focus is to learn pieces rapidly and climb the level of difficulty as fast as possible. This prevents him/her to fully understand and analyze the piece and lesson and it can also turn the student away from pursuing the instrument further.  Read More

I have taught on and off for the last 7 years. Recently I have decided to change careers and focus music and teaching full time. During my time as an undergrad student I taught percussion and basic piano lessons in the local area. Since leaving school in 2014 I have continued my music education and focused on teaching young children both group and individual. I enjoy teaching in order to help improve student's lives , to create positive study habits and set goals which will help them later in all aspects of their personal and professional lives. My methods are the ones that works more for the student. For some reason some methods work better with certain people. One method can be tedious for a student and easy and fun for another. Hal Leonard's can be a good tool. I can use to many different books. Also I can write down specific exercises special for the student. Some times a student can learn faster without a book. Read More

I try to see what skills the beginning learner may already have. Then I try to attach rudimentary skills to the players natural skill set. This is my basic approach. I teach both ear training and formal theory. I also examine popular music with students to keep techniques current with current trends in music. When teaching DAW production technique, I focus on tuning and refining a students, "production" ear or to instantly be able to refine a mix of music to a professional level. Read More

I'm an extremely dedicated and passionate performing artist, composer, and instructor with a BM in Jazz Studies from the USC Thornton School of Music. I love all aspects of playing, teaching, and writing music, but my favorite part is sharing my passion with others and watching a similar passion grow in themselves. I have been playing saxophone for about 12 years, flute and clarinet for 7, and drums and piano for the past 3 years (so I can only accept beginning drum and piano students.) I love all types of music and will work with you on any genre you want to work on while improving your overall facility on your instrument! Read More
